Sometimes there are moments in life when you need to face some difficult realisations that change the way you think about an issue or topic. To play the money game to win is one of those situations.
As an avid sports fan I will put this into sporting terms to demonstrate the impact of this mindset on your wealth creation.
Imagine playing any sport where you concentrated entirely on defence. What are the chances of you winning?
Unfortunately this is exactly how most people play the money game.
Their primary concern is survival, not losing, or security, instead of creating wealth and success.
What is your goal? What is your objective? Can you see how your current mindset may be impeding your chance of success?
Thinking Big
Building on the principle of ‘thinking big’, it is important to understand that the truly rich people have a goal of having massive wealth and abundance. They are not satisfied with ‘some’ money, they want and commit to having lots of money.
The important part of my wealth formula is ‘commitment’, which incorporates intention. Intention is very powerful when it comes to getting what you want.
If your intention is to get by paying the bills each week or month, then that is exactly what you will get.
Some people, let’s call them the middle class are renowned for saying that they would like to be ‘comfortable’… what is that anyway? There is a huge difference between being comfortable and being rich.
I didn’t always understand this concept, and I’ve been guilty of saying I would like to be comfortable. But comfortable is not rich, it’s not wealthy and certainly doesn’t give you financial freedom. It normally requires a high paying job that demands 40+ hours a week of your time. That’s not comfortable, is it?
T. Harv Eker says it best when he describes the difference boiling down to this: ‘If your goal is to be comfortable, chances are you will never be rich. But if your goal is to be rich, chances are you’ll end up mighty comfortable.’
How to Win the Money Game
A key aspect of how to win the money game is having the right mindset…
You can’t achieve great success without first shooting for the stars, having the big goals.
At least if you miss you will still be a long way ahead of those that are shooting for ‘comfortable’ or just to be able to pay the bills…
Have you spent the time to write down what you want to achieve, be specific, what is the actual annual income that you want, and by when do you want to get it?
This is the type of detail you have to be prepared to consider, and put in writing, to be able to make progress. A goal in your mind is far less effective than one on paper…
It comes back to the single thought that starts your journey, it can change your life. By spending the time to visualise what you want, to consider what life will be like when you have this thing, will change your mindset so that your brain starts working to assist you to achieve the goal.
Shoot for the stars…
Conclusion
To win the money game you need to get on the offence, be clear about what you want and start going after it with massive commitment.
Remember the power of intention… what you seek to have is what you will get, as long as you take action. Another key aspect of my wealth formula…
