“The question is not are you worthy enough to reach your goals. The question is are your goals worthy enough of you?” – Bob Proctor
Have you been playing too small when it comes to your money goals?
What would happen if you let yourself dream BIG financial dreams? I mean the kind of stuff that would create a completely different (and amazing!!) future for you and your family.
What if you dared set a goal to have a million dollar portfolio of investments or pay off your entire mortgage in 5 years? Or have 12 months worth of expenses saved so you can take the leap and start your own business?
If your money goals don’t get you excited and even a little scared, they’re not big enough.
Imagine the possibilities if you allow yourself to think big now and commit to doing the work it takes to get there.
Think of how your life could look 5 or 10 years from now. You could be living a reality you never thought possible.
I recall the moment 20 years ago when I was in a seminar completing the task of writing out big scary goals on a piece of paper. At the time I didn’t realise the significance of those goals, but one of the goals was to start a business teaching others about money, stocks and property.
I still have that piece of paper somewhere in my study. I keep it because of the reminder that it represents to follow your dreams and think big now and always.
Forget your money situation right now, let’s create an incredible financial vision for your future!
For the next few minutes, I want you to forget your money situation right now.
It doesn’t matter if your finances are a mess, you’re broke or deep in debt. Put this aside while you create your vision.
Forget ‘money regrets’ too. Put aside any frustration, shame, and resentment. Bad decisions and missed opportunities are in the past; what’s done is done, my friend. What matters now is focusing on your future and making smart money moves, starting right now.
What is the best path you can take from here?
I want you to think big, what does your VERY BEST financial life look like? What does financial freedom mean to you?
I want you to really connect with your vision emotionally. Really feel what it would be like to reach it – how will your life be different? What impact will *insert BIG money goal* have on your family, health and peace of mind?
- You won’t be so stressed.
- Overdue bills won’t be piling up.
- You’ll have investments and savings to make the most of opportunities.
- You’ll have more control over your future.
- One big unexpected bill won’t sink you.
- You’ll have more free time.
- You can start a business or do work you love.
- You can take your family on a dream trip.
Your Perfect Day – Think Big Now
A little exercise I like to call Your Perfect Day can really help bring your vision to life. You’ll be able to see what the future can look like so clearly you won’t help but get excited!
Grab a pen and paper and let’s have some fun.
I want you to write in detail what your perfect day would look like if you were completely free from money worries and living the very best financial version of your life.
How does your perfect day play out? From when you wake up through to bedtime. How do you spend your day when you’ve reached financial freedom?
Are you working in a job you love, travelling, running your own business or planning activities at home with your kids? The real key to this exercise is to describe the day in detail.
After you’ve finished the description of your Perfect Day write the date at the top. If you take relentless action towards your goal it will be incredible to look back and see how much of this vision – once just words on paper – you’ve actually made your reality.
Like I get to do with my piece of paper from 20 years ago. It’s an awesome feeling.
Keep your Perfect Day somewhere you can read on a weekly basis or whenever you need a motivating reminder about the BIG reason driving your daily money choices.
You haven’t missed your chance. As a wise old Chinese proverb says,
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now.”
Don’t spend another day, month or year playing small when it comes to your money.
Don’t be satisfied with just surviving paycheck to paycheck or let finances hold you back from living your own very best version of life.
Create your BIG money vision. Make a plan. Get to work. And think big now.
